Our client is a well-established UK-based construction company specialising in complex structural engineering and construction projects. With a reputation for delivering high-quality work, they operate across a wide range of sectors, including commercial, residential, heritage, and infrastructure. They are known for its expertise in structural alterations, refurbishments, and new builds, particularly in challenging environments. They have been involved in numerous high-profile projects across the capital and beyond, earning them a strong reputation in the construction industry.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to work on a variety of challenging projects ranging from £500,000 to £15 million in value, with a focus on structural works.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating Support: Assist the Senior Estimator in preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for structural packages across various projects.
Tender Analysis: Review and analyse tender documents, drawings, and specifications to understand the project scope and requirements.
Cost Calculation: Prepare detailed cost estimates by gathering quotes from suppliers, analysing material and labour costs, and applying appropriate markup rates.
Bid Preparation: Help compile and submit bids, ensuring all documentation is complete and submitted within required timeframes.
Supplier Liaison: Engage with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain accurate pricing and ensure competitive bids.
Cost Monitoring: Support the monitoring of project costs against initial estimates, helping to identify and report any variances.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all estimates, quotations, and project documentation for future reference and audit purposes.
Market Research: Conduct research on industry trends, material costs, and labour rates to keep estimates competitive and up-to-date.
Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate estimates that align with project goals.
Requirements
Experience: Previous experience in an estimating role within the construction industry, preferably with a focus on structural packages.
Technical Skills: Proficient in using estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Attention to Detail: Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy in cost estimation.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams.
Organisational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met.
Education: A degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying is essential.
Location: Must be able to work from the Clapham office 5 days a week.
